Instructions — How do you use it?
- Turn on some music — Switch to the music app and start a playlist. It's not possible to allow an app to access or respond to music from your music collection, but music can really enhance the experience. When your music is playing, switch back to Kaleidic.
- Hold the screen before you — While you're upright, hold the screen before your eyes so the screen is not pointing up or down, but is level. I prefer to orient the screen so it is wider than it is tall. Now gravity is not acting on the gems, they are trying to maintain their speed but are slightly slowed by drag and bounce off the edges and center of the screen.
- Tip the top of the screen toward you for a few seconds — You have started a force that pushes the gems out from the center and toward the edges. After gems pass the edge of the screen, they will soon rebound.
- Tip the bottom of the screen toward you for a few seconds — You have reversed force so that now the gems are drawn toward the center of the screen.
- Control the motion of the gems by short, slight tips of the screen — By carefully tilting the screen you can get all the gems under your control. The gems begin each kaleidoscope with a random velocity, and each has a slightly different weight so that they have more or less momentum - just to keep things interesting.
- Give it a good shake and start over — At the end of a song, or if the current kaleidoscope is not your cup of tea, shake your device and a brand new kaleidoscope is generated for you enjoyment.
